Requirements

- Diploma in a related social service field or specific training as a Transition House Support Worker
- Two years recent related experience supporting women and children, preferably in a transition house
- Current knowledge of gender based violence
- Effective interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to work both independently and as a team
- Valid First Aid certificate and Food Safe certificate
- Satisfactory criminal record check

Duties and Responsibilities

- The Transition House Support Worker provides information, support, advocacy, and referrals to women in residence, and through the 24/7 help line, who are fleeing a violent relationship
- Provides support and referrals to all callers on the help line
- Assesses eligibility of women requesting service
- Completes intake process and helps residents settle in once admitted to the house
- Assesses residents' needs and assists them in defining and implementing an action plan
- Helps problem solve issues in the house
- Communicates with other service providers
- Maintains accurate records and files
- Ensures house is safe and clean

Additional Details

- This is a temporary full-time position that begins July 1, 2024 and ends January 1, 2025
- It is night shift, three days in a row, working 6 pm to 6 am
