Requirements |
- Relevant education, training, and experience - Understanding of and experience with gender based violence and coercive control - Understanding of and experience with trauma informed practice - Effective communication and conflict resolution skills - Ability to work independently with effective problem solving skills - Understanding of confidentiality - Respect for the decision-making process of each client - Valid first aid certificate, safe food handling certificate, and satisfactory criminal record check - Willingness to work both day and night shifts (awake) |
Duties and Responsibilities |
The Casual Transition House Support Worker provides information, support, advocacy, and referrals to those who identify as women and are fleeing violence. Duties include: - Monitor the 24 hour help line and web chat - Connect both residents and callers to services - Complete the intake process with new residents and help them settle in - Support residents when in crisis - assess each resident's needs and provide support in developing a safety plan and/or goals - Maintain accurate records - Ensure the house is secure and safe - Ensure the house is clean and adequate food is available |
