Requirements

- Completion of a certificate/diploma/degree from a recognized educational institution in Early Childhood Development, Child & Youth Care, Social Work, or a related field
- Equivalent education and experience will be considered
- Successful Criminal Record Check, with Vulnerable Sector Screening
- Class 5 Driver’s License and clean Driver’s Abstract
- Acceptable Police Information Check (with vulnerable sector screening)
- Strict Adherence to the Tla’amin Nation’s Covid-19 Safety Plan and up to date with COVID-19 Vaccinations.
- Recent TB Test
- First Aid & CPR Certification, or willingness to obtain
- Knowledge of child development
- Knowledge, understanding, and respect of Tla’amin First Nation cultural practices
- Knowledge of ?ay?aj?u??m would be an asset
- Good organization, time, and general management skills
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Knowledge of group process and facilitation techniques
- Thorough knowledge of the community and its resources

Duties and Responsibilities

- Identifying, assessing, and engaging families of children 0 – 6 years of age and connecting them to existing programs and services for this age group
- Organizing and implementing a regular weekly schedule of ECD – related workshops in the areas of parenting and child development for Tla’amin community families
- Completing and maintaining accurate reports, documents, and records, while maintaining confidentiality
- Working in collaboration with parents/caregivers, early childhood education staff, team members, and relevant service providers/agencies in the execution of their duties
- Performing all duties and responsibilities in accordance with Tla’amin laws, regulations, policies, practices, and procedures as directed by the Child, Youth, and Family Manager.
