Requirements |
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) from an appropriately accredited institution, with current practicing BCCNM membership in good standing; the BC Provincial Instructor Diploma, or its equivalent, completed or in progress (maximum two years to completion) from an accredited institution; a minimum of five years recent gerontological nursing experience; responsive to a diverse student population; a solid understanding of the scope and role of health care assistants in the health care system - Proficiency with the application and integration of information technology - Knowledge and understanding of Indigenous ways of knowing and cultural teachings - Candidates with lesser qualifications (RN/LPN with current practicing BCCNM membership in good standing) may be considered for instruction of lab/clinical courses |
Duties and Responsibilities |
- Teach in clinical or lab settings including preparation, delivery, and evaluation - Support student learning through the integration and evaluation of student progress in theory and practice. - Participate in instructional advising with students - Contribute to departmental and faculty meetings and program activities related to curriculum and administrative planning activities - Candidates must demonstrate commitment to teaching, learning, and student success - Successful candidates will participate in activities outside the classroom including student support and department committees |

Appointment may end early or be extended VIU is seeking instructors to deliver courses within the Health Care Assistant program at our Powell River campus Summer-Fall 2022. This is in support of the HCA Partnership Pathways initiative and is subject to enrollment and funding. The program is delivered in a part-time modular format for some courses. |
