- Driver’s licence required.
- Enthusiastic, friendly and professional with basic customer service skills
- Must love working outside in all weather
- The ability to camp out occasionally is an asset
- Hard working, strong, physically fit with good endurance
- Ability to work well safely leading small groups completing trail and related construction or maintenance while taking direction and incorporating growth-oriented feedback
- Must have a keen eye for safety and be willing to use all related PPE including where required. masks for COVID
- Must be flexible, self Ė motivated & details oriented
- Knowledge of safe use of gas/ power tools/ outboard engines/ ATVís is an asset
- Interest in outdoor recreation, adventure tourism, guiding, horticulture, wildlife or natural resources management, parks and landscaping a definite asset
- Must be able to travel to and from work site meeting point independently on a daily basis
- Must have valid First Aid Certificate or be willing to obtain Class IV License (not required, but preferred)

Duties and Responsibilities

- Supervise with co leader small crew of youth workers in all aspects of Trails Construction and Maintenance program located in various back country campsites and trail locations in the qathet Regional Distric
- Ensuring crew follows safety procedures
- Cleaning, storing and maintaining tools and equipment needed for the job
- Vegetation Management: Watering, grass cutting, vegetation suppression using gas powered brushers, tree limbing, pruning, and bucking
- Janitorial: Cleaning, stocking and maintain, washrooms, outhouses, collecting garbage and raking campsites, assisting with janitorial at other sites
- Construction: light construction, painting and repair to permanent fixtures and furniture such as canoe rests, docks, outhouses, kiosks, boardwalks, bridges and picnic tables, new trail construction
