Requirements

- Passion for an active lifestyle, physical literacy and development of children
- Must be able to bear weight as required to spot or support athletes of all ages and abilities
- Must be able to be physically active including (but not limited to) movements such as: rotation, squatting, lifting, holding and others as required
- Good understanding of class management and behaviour management
- Must be able to teach a class in English

Preferred Requirements:
- National Coaches Certification Program (NCCP) trained or willing to obtain within a reasonable amount of time (can be a Coach In Training until such time as certification is obtained)
- Education in relevant fields
- Previous participation in the sport or activity of gymnastics
- Understanding of long-term athlete development in sport
- Choreography experience a bonus
- Experience developing athletes from Pre-competitive level to National level a bonus

Duties and Responsibilities

If no NCCP training:
- Assisting the certififed gymnastics coach with the athletes, supervising basic skills, learning spotting techniques, learning to lead games, learning warm up activities.

With NCCP training:
- Planning and preparation of class lessons, utilizing knowledge of skills progressions for gymnastics

- Assessing athletes two times per year accorindg to the CanGym system of grading

- Creating a class environment of safety, respect and engagement; establish a culture for learning; manage class procedures; manage participant behaviour

- Professional Responsibilities - maintain accurate records; communication; peer development and team building; personal growth and development

Additional Details

Employment candidate will have to complete the following:
- First Aid Certification (we offer an in-house recertification program annually)
- Respect in Sport and Making Ethical Decisions (online courses)
- Criminal Record Check (for ages 18 and older)
- NCCP Training (within 6 months of employment,
