Requirements

Education, Training, and Experience:
- A Bachelor’s Degree in the social service field and/or combination of education and related experience
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience working with vulnerable populations including people with mental health issues, substance use issues and complex needs
- A minimum of 1 year’s supervisory experience
- Experience working in supportive housing would be an asset
- Knowledge in de-escalation methods
- Sound knowledge of the Residential Tenancy Act
- Strong leadership and team-building skills
- Commitment to problem-solving, strength based approach
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Proven ability to work with community partners
- Demonstrated effective organizational skills and efficient time management skills
- Demonstrated ability to manage high workload with multiple priorities

Duties and Responsibilities

- Direct supervision of resident support workers and other building staff
- Duties such as scheduling, coordinating work assignments, evaluating employee performance, determining training and orientation needs for staff,and assisting with hiring
- Intake of new residents and orientation to the Supportive Housing program
- Ensure services are tenant-focused and an atmosphere of dignity and respect are maintained for all residents
- Monitor and assist staff to connect residents with appropriate supports and community-based resources
- Work with staff to develop support plans, programs, and activities for the residents
- Attend the Supportive Housing Oversight Committee meetings and provide written and verbal operational updates
- Assist with the development of harm reduction strategies and practices for residents and ensure staff are trained to follow established protocols
- Participate in the Coordinated Access and Assessment table (CAA Table) meetings
- Facilitate the Community Advisory Committee with community partners
- Monitor occupancy and vacancy of units
- Liaise with other social service organizations to exchange program information while maintaining close communication with community partners
- Operate within an approved annual budget
- Track statistical data as required
- Prepare a variety of written reports

Summary:
PREP Community Programs, in partnership with Lifecycle Housing, is seeking a Manager for a new Supportive Housing program in Powell River. The program is comprised of 40 self-contained units, with supports provided on-site, for people who are transitioning out of homelessness. The primary purpose of the housing is to help people ages 19 and over, who live in Powell River and who are homeless, to achieve and maintain housing stability.

The Manager is responsible for the day-to-day operations as it relates to support and activities for the 40 residents. Primary responsibilities include the oversight, supervision, and scheduling of a team of Tenant Support Workers who work 24/7 as well as building maintenance, janitorial and kitchen staff. In addition, the Manager will be responsible to complete intakes for new residents and provide ongoing oversight of support services, activities, and programs offered for residents.

We are looking for a dedicated individual who is committed to making a difference in the lives of the people who have experienced homelessness. We are looking for a team player who can work collaboratively with the Supportive Housing team as well as our community partners. This is a front-line management role and will suit someone who has a passion for working directly with staff and residents. The Supported Housing program and manager will work from a harm reduction perspective.
